Let’s learn how to draw Garu from Pucca today!
Garu (가루 Karu) is one of the main protagonist of Pucca series. A 12-year-old shy, skilled and serious-natured ninja-in-training who is the unwilling love interest of Pucca. To Pucca’s frustration, however, he only rarely returns her affection and usually frantically tries to escape when Pucca attempts to kiss him. He is trying to restore his family name, but almost anything else about Garu’s family is quite unknown. Despite trying to avoid pucca’s advances toward him, Garu’s feelings are truthful shown in a caring but not too affectionate towards her. He does care about her to some extent but it has never been implied that his feelings for her are more than platonic. It’s just that Pucca is a bit too “friendly”, unlike Garu, who doesn’t want to show “unnecessary” affection.
He typically wears a black ninja jumpsuit with a large red heart on it. Garu has long hair that he keeps tied up in pigtails, round dark-colored eyes and straight eyebrows. He’s taken a vow of silence, so he does not talk, continuing to only use the sounds from the Flash cartoons. He is said to be quite attractive as several other female characters have either been in love or infatuated with him. He lives independently, in a small house full of booby traps and other mechanical objects just outside Sooga Village with his pet cat Mio.
Garu has a very serious nature, displayed advanced swordsmanship and incredible grasp on ninjutsu. He is martial arts boy honing martial arts in the mountains or enjoying meditation. Although he has learned powerful techniques through tremendous training, it is more embarrassing to use most of these techniques to avoid Pucca. Garu is capable of superhuman athletics and endurance such as running without tiring. He enjoys his own company. He has been shown to almost immediately accept a quest if told it will bring him “great honor.” He tries to uphold this by helping Master Soo so he can eventually restore his family’s honor. Because of this, he is put into situations he doesn’t enjoy but will put up with to maintain the honor. Garu also tends to like animals and insects.

As always all the blue and green lines are just construction lines and will be erased later so do not push on your pencil too much ^_^ I will try to be super efficient with the text so will only describe steps that require some explanation.
Make sure to leave enough free space on paper for next steps. You can see how much space you will need from the size of the paper on this picture.

Lighten all the construction lines by “stamping” the kneaded eraser on the paper. Make sure to refer to the picture bellow as you need to ink only some parts of the construction lines.

Wait till the ink is nice and dry and erase all the construction lines.
Step 10
To add colors, make sure to sketch the color outlines with the right color or pencil first.
If your goal is to become a real Mangaka and design your own manga characters make sure to try to draw Garu from memory several times. Always compare the drawing to the original and correct any mistakes you see. Do this till you are happy with the result. It doesn’t have to look exactly the same, don’t sweat the details. The point is that you get the main shapes right and that it looks good. This is the best way to build a huge library of manga shapes in your memory that you can use to draw and design your own manga characters ^-^.
