Let’s learn how to draw Arte from Arte today!
Arte (アルテ, Arute) is the main protagonist of the Arte series. She is a delightful young lady, the only daughter from a small aristocratic family of the 16th century living in the city of Florence. She wants to be an artist despite the fact that no one believes that women are capable of fine art.
She is an average height girl with a slender yet feminine figure. Pale skin, blue eyes. Before she cut her hair to chin-length with bangs, she had a long hair. She usually wears a long green dress over the white petticoat. There is silver embroidery on the hem of the dress. Brown belt with gold buckles and a white cloth around her waist.
Unlike mother, her father was the only person who believed in her passion for art and supported her. After father’s death, she is expected to marry a nobleman soon. Althought she flees her house, she has to face harsh reality and despite her problem to find her place, finally ends up in a renowned artisan Leo’s workshop. As an apprentice, she must earn her keep while tackling various challenges along the difficult path to becoming a full-fledged, master artisan.
Althought she is naive because of her noble upbringing, she can be very determined, brutally honest and willing to be a hard negotiator. She has a very upbeat personality. She respects hard work, from any class of people.
Step 1
As always all the blue and green lines are just construction lines and will be erased later so do not push on your pencil too much ^_^ I will try to be super efficient with the text so will only describe steps that require some explanation.
Make sure to leave enough free space on paper for next steps. You can see how much space you will need from the size of the paper on this picture.

Step 8
Step 9
Lighten all the construction lines by “stamping” the kneaded eraser on the paper. Make sure to refer to the picture bellow as you need to ink only some parts of the construction lines.
Step 10
Wait till the ink is nice and dry and erase all the construction lines.
Step 11
To add colors, make sure to sketch the color outlines with the right color or pencil first.
If your goal is to become a real Mangaka and design your own manga characters make sure to try to draw Arte from memory several times. Always compare the drawing to the original and correct any mistakes you see. Do this till you are happy with the result. It doesn’t have to look exactly the same, don’t sweat the details. The point is that you get the main shapes right and that it looks good. This is the best way to build a huge library of manga shapes in your memory that you can use to draw and design your own manga characters ^-^.
Draw with passion! ^_^
