Let’s learn how to draw Houshou Marine from hololive 3rd Generation today!
Houshou Marine (宝鐘マリン) is a Japanese Virtual YouTuber associated with hololive, as part of the Hololive 3rd Generation. She is a pirate cosplayer, who loves jewels, treasure, and money. Her dream is to become a pirate and go treasure hunting. In order to get a pirate ship, she is now stacking up money as a VTuber on the great lands, just like how the other land-lovers do.
Marine is a beautiful and elegant young lady with crimson red hair and heterochromia, with her left iris being golden, and her right iris being red. Marine is a bold, fast-talking girl who often throws caution to the wind, making obscene jokes and playfully mocking both her higher-ups and her viewers. Marine approaches people through talking to them so she may get closer to them. She acts like a big sis and often seduces other VTubers like a succubus does. She often struggles to keep her lewdness in check, with her openly lusting after fictional female characters, reading BL and claiming to be a former shotacon. Despite this, Marine typically shows herself to be cultured with the variety topics she brings up in her streams, ranging from popular to niche, and regularly talks about the happenings behind the scenes at hololive on her own accord. She is also extremely sensitive to her surroundings especially when it comes to social environment.
Her fanbase is called “Houshou’s crew” (宝鐘の一味,Houshou no Ichimi). She is often referred to as “Senchou” (船長, Ship Captain) by her viewers and peers. Marine also sometimes calls her non-Japanese fans “overseas sexy guys/girls”. Her representative emote is a flag & skull (known as Jolly Roger) because of her pirate theming. Marine is notably good at drawing and has a wide vocal range.
Step 1
As always all the blue and green lines are just construction lines and will be erased later so do not push on your pencil too much ^_^ I will try to be super efficient with the text so will only describe steps that require some explanation.
Make sure to leave enough free space on paper for next steps. You can see how much space you will need from the size of the paper on this picture.

Step 9
Lighten all the construction lines by “stamping” the kneaded eraser on the paper. Make sure to refer to the picture bellow as you need to ink only some parts of the construction lines.
Step 10
Wait till the ink is nice and dry and erase all the construction lines.
Step 11
To add colors, make sure to sketch the color outlines with the right color or pencil first.
If your goal is to become a real Mangaka and design your own manga characters make sure to try to draw Houshou Marine from memory several times. Always compare the drawing to the original and correct any mistakes you see. Do this till you are happy with the result. It doesn’t have to look exactly the same, don’t sweat the details. The point is that you get the main shapes right and that it looks good. This is the best way to build a huge library of manga shapes in your memory that you can use to draw and design your own manga characters ^-^.
Draw with passion! ^_^
