Hey Mangakas! ^^ We are going to draw Gintoki from Gintama today, he is a skilled samurai, founder of Yorozuya and he also likes to pick his nose?! ^_^ Not sure if this is the best role model for you kids ^_^ Anyways, thanks to MugiwaraNaruto for request.
As always all the blue (or green) lines are just construction lines and will be erased later so do not push on your pencil too much ^_^ I will try to be super efficient with text so will only describe steps that require some explanation.
Step 1
Draw the head circle, center line and eye line. Notice that eye line is pretty low. Mark the green line for Gintama’s chin. The distance of the chin from the bottom of the head circle should be greater than the distance of the eyeline.

Step 2
Notice that Gintoki’s chin lines doesn’t connect but end at the green construction line so it’s not that pointy. Draw mouth in about half of the distance from head circle to chin.

Step 3

Step 4

Step 5

Step 6

Step 7

Step 8

Step 9
Lighten all the construction lines by “stamping” the kneedable eraser and ink the final black lines. Make sure to refer to the picture above as many construction lines shouldn’t be completely inked especialy with overlaping objects like hair over ears etc. There are also some new lines here, so make sure to draw them in pencil before inking.

Step 10

Step 11
We will work on line quality here, bolden Gintoki’s eye and chin lines. Also fill the eyes and shadows on his collar with black. Make sure to sketch the shadow lines in pencil first. Add the neck shadow.
Ok, that was fun right? ^_^ If your goal is to become a real mangaka and design your own manga characters make sure to try to draw Gintoki from memory several times. Always compare the drawing to the original and correct any mistakes you see. Do this till you are happy with the result. It doesn’t have to look exactly the same, don’t sweat the details. The point is that you get the main shapes right and that it looks good. This is the best way to build a huge library of manga shapes in your memory that you can use to draw and design your own manga characters ^_-.
Draw with passion! ^_^
