Let’s learn how to draw Artia from hololive CN 2st Generation today!
Artia (阿媂娅) was a female Chinese Virtual YouTuber associated with hololive, as part of the Hololive Chinese 2st Generation of VUP. (Virtual UP, since content creators in Bilibili are normally nicknamed “UP” or “UP Master”). She was a frost mage from another dimension, who increased her magical power through gaming. She refered to this as “training” and did her training every day. She was extremely skilled at FPS games.
Artia had fair skin and red eyes. Her long hair with bangs was styled into twintails with gray and white ribbons that laced around each twintail. She wore a gray and white dress with gold accents, white gloves and leggings, as well as gray shoes. The purple jewel on her chest was Alexandrite, a stone that a certain phantom thief is looking to collect. She was a bit of a recluse and quite shy contrary to outward appearance. While she usually was very chill and cool-headed, she used to get fired up when she got into intense situations. She also loved to joke around in a matter-of-fact manner.
Artia was born and raised in another dimension set in the 5 elements. She grew up in a wood elemental family but for unknown reasons turned into an ice elemental. One day, the fire broke out at her home and killed her parents, while she was at school. As she was attempting to douse the fire, her ice magic went out of control. All she remembered from that was a mysterious person who sealed her powers by tying the ribbons into her hair and told her never to take it off. That person transferred Artia to our dimension to better herself. She enjoyed rap music and she was quite proficient in English. Unfortunately, Artia went to retirement on November 19, 2020.
Step 1
As always all the blue and green lines are just construction lines and will be erased later so do not push on your pencil too much ^_^ I will try to be super efficient with the text so will only describe steps that require some explanation.
Make sure to leave enough free space on paper for next steps. You can see how much space you will need from the size of the paper on this picture.
Step 2
Step 3
Step 4
Step 5
Step 6
Step 7
Step 8
Step 9
Lighten all the construction lines by “stamping” the kneaded eraser on the paper. Make sure to refer to the picture bellow as you need to ink only some parts of the construction lines.
Step 10
Wait till the ink is nice and dry and erase all the construction lines.
Step 11
To add colors, make sure to sketch the color outlines with the right color or pencil first.
If your goal is to become a real Mangaka and design your own manga characters make sure to try to draw Artia from memory several times. Always compare the drawing to the original and correct any mistakes you see. Do this till you are happy with the result. It doesn’t have to look exactly the same, don’t sweat the details. The point is that you get the main shapes right and that it looks good. This is the best way to build a huge library of manga shapes in your memory that you can use to draw and design your own manga characters ^-^.
Draw with passion! ^_^
