Let’s learn how to draw Natsuiro Matsuri from hololive 1st Generation today!
Natsuiro Matsuri (夏色まつり) is a Japanese Virtual YouTuber associated with hololive, as part of the Hololive 1st Generation. She is a rookie on the Cheerleading Team.
Matsuri is an energetic, expressive, and sometimes chaotic girl who is bubbly as a festival. Her cheerful and pleasant attitude makes her popular among her peers and is looked up upon by her juniors. She gets along with everyone. She has a lot of friends, and loves festivals and events. On the other hand Matsuri is an emotionally intelligent, sensitive, sweet, yet serious, and hardworking young girl, who can speak frankly and maturely about a variety of topics.
Her livestreams mainly consist of her chatting, playing games or singing. She is skilled at singing and occasionally does karaoke streams. Her first original song (君と眺める夏の花, kimi to nagameru natsu no hana) was released on June 20, 2020. Matsuri enjoys many types of games, such as simulation games, mobile games, shooting games and she has become very skilled at FPS games.
She has a mascot called Ebifrion (Ebifurai (fried shrimp) + lion), part-lion part-fried shrimp. Her fanbase is officially called “Matsurisu” (まつりす, Matsuri + Listeners). The word “risu” also means Squirrel in Japanese. Thus, they are represented by a small brown squirrel with chubby cheeks. Her name, “Matsuri,” translates to “Festival,” which suits the lively and cheerful theme around her. Because of this, her representative emote is a lantern often used at Japanese festivals.
Step 1
As always all the blue and green lines are just construction lines and will be erased later so do not push on your pencil too much ^_^ I will try to be super efficient with the text so will only describe steps that require some explanation.
Make sure to leave enough free space on paper for next steps. You can see how much space you will need from the size of the paper on this picture.

Step 9
Lighten all the construction lines by “stamping” the kneaded eraser on the paper. Make sure to refer to the picture bellow as you need to ink only some parts of the construction lines.
Step 10
Wait till the ink is nice and dry and erase all the construction lines.
Step 11
To add colors, make sure to sketch the color outlines with the right color or pencil first.
If your goal is to become a real Mangaka and design your own manga characters make sure to try to draw Natsuiro Matsuri from memory several times. Always compare the drawing to the original and correct any mistakes you see. Do this till you are happy with the result. It doesn’t have to look exactly the same, don’t sweat the details. The point is that you get the main shapes right and that it looks good. This is the best way to build a huge library of manga shapes in your memory that you can use to draw and design your own manga characters ^-^.
Draw with passion! ^_^
